HOW PENMAC STAFFING SERVICES REDUCED PAYROLL DISTRIBUTION AND PROVIDED A GREAT EMPLOYEE BENEFIT

The Situation
In 2008, “Our executive team took a hard look at what it was costing us—both in dollars and environmental resources—to get our people paid each week,” said Carmen Rost, Payroll Manager “We were amazed at the level of resources used to deliver payroll each week” Penmac was paying 75% of their workforce via paper check with the remaining on direct deposit. “Understandably, our employees want, and need, their paychecks on payday. They just can’t wait for it to arrive in the mail. Therefore, a high percentage of our employees had chosen to drive to one of our offices on Friday afternoon to pick up their check. This led to literally hundreds of thousands of dollars in lost billable time or expense for us, not to mention lost wages for our employees.”
The Solution
Penmac implemented the rapid! PayCard as an alternative to paper checks for its employees, and the results have been dramatic. “We looked at the best options for our employees and selected rapid! The Results
The results are in and they are significant. Penmac has now eliminated almost all paper checks. They are currently at 98% direct deposit and ePaystub participation. “We only cut checks now if we have made an error in new employee enrollment”, said Rost, “The rapid! If we ever have errors in payroll, or any problem, they work with us to correct any issue on the front end.” Nearly 50% of Penmac employees currently receive their payroll on the rapid! REGIONAL COMPANY LOWERS PAYROLL COSTS ACHIEVES 98% E-PAY AND SAVES $60,000
Tampa Bay Workforce Alliance works with businesses and candidates to leverage their training, retraining and develop competitive opportunities in the workforce. With nearly 100,000 job candidates annually accessing its four career centers, they are the single largest source of job candidates in the region.
This major workforce employer was using gift cards (gas and retailer cards) to pay various benefits to its employees and candidates. EDUCATION PROVIDER LOWERS PAYROLL COSTS AND ACHIEVES 100% E-PAY
rapid! PayCard Case Study; A post-secondary education provider committed to quality, career-focused learning led by enthusiastic professionals who are inspired to transform an individual into a top-notch professional. With over 10,000 graduates on 4 campus locations this education provider needed a better method of paying its employees and students than traditional paper checks.
Prior to the launch of the rapid! PayCard program this education provider was making all wage and stipend paymentswith paper checks. This was a major logistics problem for the 17 to 30 year old student demographic who lost up to 10% of the checks issued, resulting in expense stop payments and check reissues. With the typical student enrollment of 10 months the rapid! PayCard program was an ideal solution and a REAL benefit to both the student and the education provider.
The eligible students are issued a rapid! PayCard at an orientation session for first payment. The student orientation session instructs the students about the card benefits and how to use it efficiently. Since many of the students have part time jobs as well they are advised that the rapid! PayCard can be used for direct deposit at those jobs. This has made the entire payments process smoother, eliminating long lines for check pick-up, stop payment fees. According to the program manager the program has been “100% successful” in eliminating the issues of payment delivery.
